Got lucky he had Payet...Lanzini...

Poor second season...
Talks a good game...
Poor on tactics and subs...
Good enough for W Brom...

Re: Slaven Bilic is 'first choice for West Brom head coach role'
Don't think he was anything like a good tactician. The stoke and sunderland games were appalling to watch first-hand, and we could see the selection needed changing but he was to stubborn to change.
Still gave me some amazing memories of really shafting the arrogant top teams though. I forgive him for that, but most knew there were problems near the end of that first season...

Re: Slaven Bilic is 'first choice for West Brom head coach role'
I wish WBA well but as for Bilic I think he is a creep. As a player he dumped us for Everton and then gamed the toffees for two years with an injury ( ask the Evertonians of those days what they thought of him ) and finally in a WC semi final he faked the outcome of a challenge with Laurent Blanc causing Blanc to be red carded an miss his country’s WC final win over Brasil.

Re: Slaven Bilic is 'first choice for West Brom head coach role'
Slaven would have succeeded if he hadn’t been too much of a nice bloke to sack the coaches that he himself appointed.

Not sure that that’s anything more than wishful thinking, but we’ll see.

Re: Slaven Bilic is 'first choice for West Brom head coach role'
He didn't seem to get that you need to coach players to play systems.

Contrast Pellegrini's first four games, and the way he taught the team to play his system, with the way we were drifting in Bilic's last days

Re: Slaven Bilic is 'first choice for West Brom head coach role'
Gave us our best season in recent times.

If the club had given him the money they gave MP last year, my bet is he'd still be here.

The biggest mistake Gold and Sullivan made is not making the most of that last season at UP.

Re: Slaven Bilic is 'first choice for West Brom head coach role'
He'll do reasonably well at West Brom.

Slav's a decent manager, but he needs to shake off some of his backroom staff. He was too loyal to some poor coaches at West Ham.

I admire his loyalty in many ways. But he had three or four key coaches at West Ham (Jurcevic, Dicks, Rak etc) who were just not up to scratch and who were unable to improve players.

The buck always stops with the manager, of course, which is why Slav ultimately left West Ham. But I maintain that he's a good tactician and a very decent man - he could well at the right club. But he needs to pick better coaches to go with him - and "then" be fiercely loyal to them.

Really didn't think he would get another club as big as WBA. I wish him well.

Will he employ Julian again to put the cones out?

Re: Slaven Bilic is 'first choice for West Brom head coach role'
I wish him well, but I don’t see why he’ll make them a better team. We continually went backwards under him.

Sorry if any fanboys get triggered.

Did better than MP in his first season

You give MP a prime Payet and minimal injuries and he would have got the champions league that season instead of missing out

Yes, good luck to him.

I know it didn't end well here (was the great season the outlier, or did circumstances do for him afterwards?) but I like him and I wish him well. Seems like one of football's good guys. Would have loved it if he was able to take us forward past that wonderful season but it wasn't to be.

Good luck to him. He will make them a better team.

I like Slav as a person.

It didn't work out for him here, but I like the man.
